Portrait Update! …wait, portrait? What portrait?

Hey guys and gals and all of my pals…Wow that was corny…I am here with an update on a portrait I started drawing last December. You may be asking yourself “why should I care about some dumb portrait?” or “why are you telling us about this now if you started it back in December?” Well, I’m glad you may or may not have asked. Well, I am here to tell you about this little update on the portrait because:

1) It looks AWESOME!

            AND

2) It’s of Dexter Morgan! (Not specifically Micheal C. Hall, I’m talking Dex. I plan on adding more to the background to make that more obvious, as if the bright red border vignette thing wasn’t enough)

Yeah, I was drawing this at the height of last season and I was so invested in the portrait drawing that I rolled the art desk over by my computer desk so I could work on the portrait and watch the episodes. I don’t think I have ever taken so many pauses while drawing something before just so I could scream at the screen every now and then. I know, I am an obsessed freak fan girl. You got a problem with that?

Either way, I when the season ended I was so shocked and excited and my brain literally just put all things “Dexter” related and just froze it in time. It’s like my brain couldn’t handle it and was like “OMG! Deb found out! FINALLY!” *a short break later* “I wonder how they’re going to start next season? I mean, they can’t just start it off somewhere else with Deb and Dex talking about what happened, hugging, and then going on with life like she didn’t see Dexter kill Travis. They’d have to pick it up right where the season left off!” And that is where everything “Dexter” related became perpetually frozen in time in fear that thinking of multiple outcomes and starts to the next season or even my own strange day dreams that really aren’t like normal fan girl fantasies and more like missing episodes would send the whole “Dexter” universe upside down! Man that was a mouthful.

So I spent a good amount of time just staring at the portrait and adding things to it now and then until I eventually forced myself to find something else to become addicted to. Ironically enough it ended up being “Supernatural”, a show that I was already into but haven’t really watched that often(mainly because I’m forced to watch it online because I have no clue what channels are what where I live and a lot of networks share channels). So if you were curious as to why I’ve been posting ton of “Supernatural” related pics on “Random Pic O’ the Day”, now you know. Either way, I’m still not as obsessed with that as I was and am with “Dexter”. But it’ll do for now. School has also been keeping me busy as well. Gotta love community college. ;)

Back to the portrait though…On my deviantART account, Narutofan92, I started putting things in collections and essentially organizing my work when I decided “hey, I think it’d be cool to make a collection with all of my works in progress.” And thus the inspiration to work on the portrait was rekindled. Granted I’m not working on it as frequently as I was when I started it, but it is getting somewhere.

Sooooo…Here be the portrait so far. Keep in mind it isn’t based off of one picture, it’s kind of portrait I just started out of nowhere with an idea of where I wanted to go with it. So the little collage of “Dexter” pictures taped to my art desk are there for reference.

Alright, I think that just about covers it for this portrait post….

Just remember kiddies, just because an artist on “Dexter” was a schizophrenic serial killer doesn’t mean that all artists are…although being a little crazy does tend to be part of the trade. ;D
